Love popcorn but worried you're not really getting a healthy snack? Here are some tips to make the most out of your favorite snack!

  1. Step 1

    If you must use bagged microwave popcorn, buy the small snack size bags but MAKE SURE you get the 94% fat free versions.

  2. Step 2

    The best option is to invest in a hot air popcorn popper. These are inexpensive, easy to use and result in popcorn cooked without oil or any other additives. You can find them at stores like Wal-Mart, Target, Bed Bath & Beyond and other department stores.

  3. Step 3

    Instead of melting butter or margarine over your popcorn, try using spray butter. You can get a burst of flavor on your popcorn without a ton of calories and fat.

  4. Step 4

    Use powdered popcorn flavoring. These come in flavors such as butter and cheddar cheese.

  5. Step 5

    Experiment and have fun! Try things like sprinkling dry ranch dressing mix on your popcorn, or garlic powder and a bit of parmesan cheese.
