How to Access Share Files with other users On A Mac

To share files on your Mac with other network users, you must set up a network resource. You can share an entire disk. or you can share just individual folders. And you can restrict access to certain users, if you want.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Before you can share files with other users, you must activate the AppleTalk file-sharing feature, and always patience.
  1. Step 1

    Chhose the choser from the Apple menu.

  2. Step 2

    Click the AppleShare icon from the Chooser window.

  3. Step 3

    Click the name of the computer you want to access. (If your network has zones, you must first click the zone you want to access)

  4. Step 4

    Click Ok.

  5. Step 5

    A login screen appears. If you're a registered user on the computer, click the Registered User button and enter the user name and password. Otherwise click the Guest button and then click Ok.

  6. Step 6

    A list of shared folders ad disks appear. Click the ones you want to access and then click Ok.

Tips & Warnings
  • A checkbox appears next to each item on the list. If you check this box, you connect to the folder or dish automatically each time you start your computer.
