How to Make Fast Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches
With gooey, melted cheese, succulent thinly slicked steak and flavorful onions and peppers, it's no wonder Philly cheesesteak sandwiches are a popular item on menus across the U.S. With gobs of melted cheese and piles of beef, this is not a sandwich for those watching their waistline. While the best Philly cheesesteaks arguably come from it's home of origin, Philadelphia, you can quickly whip up your own authentic Philly cheesesteak sandwich at home. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 1 1/2 lbs. rib-eye steak, thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp. olive oil
- Salt
- Pepper
- Italian rolls or hoagie rolls, sliced open
- Cheese (sliced provolone, mozzarella or other meltable cheese)
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 onion, sliced

Heat olive oil in a large frying pan. Add sliced pepper and onion to the pan and saute for five minutes until the onions are translucent and the peppers are soft.

Remove the slices of peppers and onions from the frying pan and into a bowl. Cover with foil to keep them warm.

Add the steak to the same frying pan. Pan-fry the beef until it is brown.

Pour the peppers and onions back in the frying pan with the meat. Stir the mixture to blend the juice of the meat with the peppers and onion.

Scoop the mixture of steak, peppers and onions onto the rolls.

Place slices of cheese on top of the meat, where it can melt.

Close the sandwich and serve.
