Microwaves are always tough to clean. If, like most people, you have bits of food caked onto the sides of your microwave, you’ll most likely find this very hard to remove. Bathroom/kitchen sprays and cleansers may get rid of the grease and grime after a few applications, but at what price? Your microwave will smell of bleach and harsh chemicals. Fortunately, I have just the solution for you and it’s a simple and natural one too. This one is so good that you’ll want to tell all of your friends and family – it works!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • water
  • microwave safe bowl
  • lemon (optional)
  1. Step 1

First, wipe out any excess crumbs with a paper towel or cloth.

  2. Step 2

Fill a microwave-safe glass bowl with 2 cups of water and place inside the microwave oven. (Optional: add a freshly cut lemon wedge to the bowl if you want your microwave to have a clean lemon scent)

  3. Step 3

Microwave the water until it reaches a rolling boil. (The time that it takes for the water to boil will depend on your microwave.) When it reaches a boil, do not remove the bowl.

  4. Step 4

Leave the bowl inside the microwave for a few minutes in order to let the steam penetrate the interior. The steam will loosen the food particles caked to the insides of the microwave.

  5. Step 5

With pot holders or oven glove to prevent burns, carefully remove the bowl and interior tray. Wipe down the interior with a damp paper towel or cloth. You will find that all of the caked-on food particles will magically wipe away!

  6. Step 6

Wash the tray in the sink with a mild dish soap, or wash in the dishwasher, then return to microwave.
