These apples have a softer exterior than the usual candy apples that many children, and adults, seem to prefer.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 18 crisp red apples
  • 18 wooden skewers
  • 3 pounds light caramels
  • 3/4 cup water
  1. Step 1

Wash apples well, making sure that any wax residue is removed.

Remove cores and push a skewer well into the base of each apple.

  2. Step 2

Into the top of a double boiler, put the caramels and water.

Heat until the caramels are melted and blend with the water.

  3. Step 3

Meanwhile, line a cookie pan with foil and butter it well.

When the caramel mixture is blended, remove the pot from the heat.

Take each apple, in turn, by the stick end, and swirl it quickly in the caramel.

  4. Step 4

Remove quickly and allow any excess to drip back into the pot.

Twirl apple again until candy is evenly spread, then place skewer side up on the tin foil.

If the caramel mixture begins to firm up, return it briefly to the heat.

Allow apple coverings to cool completely.

    Store in a cool place.

    Enjoy!
