One of the basic and important Yoga posture is the 'Cat Pose' (Bidalasana). It provides a gentle massage to the spine and belly organs. It increases flexibility of spine as it helps to stretch the middle to upper back and shoulders.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Yoga Mat
  • Comfortable Clothing
  1. Step 1

    Begin by placing your hands and knees on a yoga mat in a tabletop position. Keep your hands directly below your shoulders and your knees beneath the hips. This is your starting positioning.

    As you breathe in, open the chest forward, let the spine curve go downward. Lift your head-up slightly.

    Exhale slowly as you start to arch the back upward. Bend your head inward and relax.

Tips & Warnings
  • The Cat Pose relaxes your back and spine. It also extends the front and back of your body. Doing the Cat Pose benefits your health by stimulating spinal fluid and by improving circulation through the spine. It is also useful in managing stress.
  • If you suffer from any chronic or recent back pain or injury then avoid practicing Cat Pose.
