There are many things you can make out of your water bottle. Making use out of the bottle makes so much more sense than tossing it in the trash. Here are at least a dozen ways to reuse your bottle.
If you can replace an item you would normally buy with a home made item you have made a small dent in reducing waste and also helped to keep our planet green. For more ways to keep our planet green read goodselfme's article:
http://www.ehow.com/how_4728930_never-buy-storage-containers-again.html Just to make it easier, I will link this to the side in the related article area.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • bottle
  • scissors
  • imagination
  • time
  • string
  1. Step 1

On a rainy day fill ten water bottles with sand or dried beans and place at the end of a hallway in a triangular shape for the children to play bowling with. Let them roll the ball and keep score.

  2. Step 2

Cut the bottom out and use for a pet food scoop.

  3. Step 3

Cut the top off and use as a funnel like I did in my How to Make a Stress Ball article. You can use a funnel in a multitude of areas. Even the children can use them in their sand box. Use a funnel to implant in the soil and water your plants through it.

  4. Step 4

Cut one in the middle. Plant a seedling in the bottom and tape the top back on to help the moisture stay in and the plant get a better start.

  5. Step 5
    Get crafty
    Get crafty

Save bottles for cheap craft supplies. They can hold paints, buttons, beads, etc. or even create this cute pig.

  6. Step 6

Fill a bottle with water leaving about an inch to allow for swelling. Freeze and place in your cooler when going on a picnic to keep foods cold.

  7. Step 7

Stash stockings in your drawer. Use a different bottle for different colored pantyhose. Now you can easily see what color pantyhose you have.

  8. Step 8

Cut the top off and use as a pencil holder near the phone to take messages.

  9. Step 9

Fill a tall one with water and use as a rolling pin when rolling out biscuits or pastry.

  10. Step 10

Fill with sand and place in the trunk of your car for use on those snowy days when your car gets stuck.

  11. Step 11

Cut the bottom out and place over a weed. Poor the weed killer into the bottle on only the weed so as not to kill the neighboring grass or flowers.

  12. Step 12

Fill with sand and use for a light workout. Without the sand they give my dog a work out. He loves to play fetch.

  13. Step 13

Make a bird house. Cut an opening for the birds to eat from. Punch a hole in the side and insert a dowel for the birds to perch on. Place a hole in the lid to hang a S hook from and fill with seed then hang from your tree.

Tips & Warnings
  • Brainstorm with the children to see who can think of the most ways to use a bottle.
  • Less plastic in the garbage means a better earth for our children.
  • Check out these tips in Granny Shirley's article to find uses for several other items: http://www.ehow.com/how_4806133_save-money-recycling.html
  • Always be careful when using a knife or box cutter to cut.
