Things You'll Need:
- Large cardboard box with flaps
- Purchased cat ears and tail
- 1/2 yard of back vinyl, felt or other fabric
- Black sweatsuit (or other black clothing)
- Black Marker
- Glow-in-the-dark paint
- Black eyeliner pencil
-
Step 1
Remove the bottom of a cardboard box just a bit bigger around than your child's waist. Remove the side and back flaps of the box (this will make the box lighter and easier for your child to manage).
-
Step 2
On the front box flap write "Free Kitten" in big bubble letters - highlight with reflective, glow-in-the-dark pain. Paint the back of the box with the glow-in-the-dark paint for night-time safety.
-
Step 3
Measure the distance from your child's shoulder to waist. Double that length and cut a strip 12-inches wide. Fold in half from end to end, then fold in half from side to side. Make a semi-circle cut for your child's head, with a small slit in the back so it will slide easily over the head.
-
Step 4
Use a staple gun to attach the ends of each strip to the inside of the front and back of the box. For extra strength, add a strip of duct tape over the staples.
-
Step 5
Attach the end of the tail to the inside of the box in the same manner.
-
Step 6
Dress your child in the black sweatsuit, draw whiskers and a nose with eyeliner. Pop the whole contraption over his or her head - add ears and prepare for cuteness.
