Find a Free Pet
Find a Free Pet

Thinking about getting a pet, but would like to get your new pet for free? This article has a few ideas on how to get a pet for free.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • newspaper
  • internet
  • flyers
  1. Step 1

You have made the decision to get a pet, but you want to get him or her for free. Start by looking in the newspaper. Most local papers have a section under classifieds: pets-it will list pets available and the prices. sometimes free pets are listed in this section.

  2. Step 2

In the classifieds, there may also be a section that states "free" or "free to a good home".

  3. Step 3

Craigslist also has a section for pets. They can be for a price, an adoption fee, or free.

  4. Step 4

Freecycle.com also allows you to either see if others are posting pets or you can post your request for a free pet under "wanted". You can request a specific pet on freecycle.com. I thing is if you request pet, it may take a few times of posting before you get a response.

  5. Step 5

Contact your local vet clinic to see if they know of any client who is giving up their pet. Sometimes, a client has to get rid of pet due to moving, age or their pet is having babies that they can not care for.

  6. Step 6

You can also look at your local supermarket for flyers with pets for free.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure you know what kind of animal you want and are prepared to handle. This is a big commitment and you can not just return the pet.
  • Also, know if pet is up to date on vet, shots, etc.

on 10/3/2008 Petfinder has a personal list of people trying to rehome their pets. The people are supposed to require a few, but many are negotiable or only put a few because it is a requirement. Good tips. Great photo choices. 5
