How to make your own Valentines Day cookies

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • • 1 1/2 cups butter, softened
  • • 2 cups white sugar
  • • 4 eggs
  • • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • • 5 cups all-purpose flour
  • • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • • 1 teaspoon salt
  1. Step 1

With Valentine’s Day right around the corner Valentine's Day cookies will start popping up all over the place. I want to share my favorite Valentine's Day cookies recipes with you so you can impress the neighborhood and family and friends with them.

The first one doesn’t really have a name so call it what you want. My friend’s mom used to make these for me and I LOVE them. She passed her recipe down to me and I am now sharing it with you.

  2. Step 2

    • 1 1/2 cups butter, softened
    • 2 cups white sugar
    • 4 eggs
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 5 cups all-purpose flour
    • 2 teaspoons baking powder
    • 1 teaspoon salt

  3. Step 3

    1. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cover, and chill dough for at least one hour (or overnight).

  4. Step 4

    2. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Roll out dough on floured surface 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Cut into shapes with any cookie cutter. Place cookies 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets.

  5. Step 5

    3. Now here you take some strawberry sauce or red liquid icing and you make a design on the top of the cookie, something simple like a zigzag design or heart or a face even.

  6. Step 6

    4. Bake 6 to 8 minutes in preheated oven. Cool completely

  7. Step 7

Now I will say it take some time to get good at the designs but the syrup bakes into the cook and it is amazing!
