Spaghetti is a classic family favorite. In this article, I'll share my favorite recipe, which has been passed down throughout my family. Thanks Mom!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Noodles
  • Tomato Sauce
  • Stewed Tomatoes
  • Garlic
  • Your Choice of Meat
  • Chili Powder
  • Chopped Onion
  • Dried Basil
  • Sea Salt
  • Black Pepper
  1. Step 1

Put a large pot of water over high heat to boil. Add a fair amount of salt, good noodle water should taste like sea water.

  2. Step 2

Put an oiled skillet over medium heat. Add meat and spices: Garlic, onion, basil, chili powder, salt and pepper. Fry until meat is completely cooked.

  3. Step 3

Now that your meat is cooked, add your tomato sauce and stewed tomatoes. Bring your sauce up to a boil and then bring down to a simmer. Allow it to simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  4. Step 4

When the water reaches boiling, add your pasta and cook according to the package directions.

  5. Step 5

Top your noodles with sauce and serve.

Tips & Warnings
  • Buttered corn is a delicious side dish for this meal. Mmm. Add breadsticks and a salad and it's fantastic!
  • Be careful not to burn your spices, since this lends the dish a bitter flavor.
  • Don't overcook your noodles, but don't undercook them either.
  • If you're using a fatty type of ground, make sure to drain off the grease before adding your tomato sauce.

on 10/15/2008 Great article. Five stars * ** ** Here is a tip that I learned from a chef. After straining your spaghetti, immediately run it under "cold", yes, cold water. This stops it from all sticking together.
