Things You'll Need:
- A tape masure
- a good eye
-
Step 1
Save the big bold prints for big roomsConsider the size of the room:
Large bold colors and prints tend to look better in larger rooms, as they tend to overwhelm and draw too much attention in smaller rooms. -
Step 2
Kitchen curtains and drape should be made of a fabric that washes and steams easily, like linenConsider what the room is used for:
For the kitchen you may want something easily washable to get rid of cooking smells, whereas a dining room could have more luxurious fabrics. -
Step 3
Choose a style:
Narrow windows: Tie back curtains cover the window frame on both sides. If your window is a bit narrow, it may look better to tie back on just one side. Extended rods provide extra length so as not to cover up any of the window when pulled back
Short Windows: A fabric cornice (or valance) above the curtains can make the window area look smaller. try a rod fixed a couple inches above the window to create the illusion of height. A drape/curtain extending to the floor can also create height, while simultaneously adding an elegant touch.
