Poppy Seeds

Poppy seed butter is a nutty, delicious addition to pasta, vegetables, and even fish.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1/2 lb butter (1 stick)
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
  • small saucepan or skillet
  1. Step 1

Add poppy seeds to a saucepan that has been preheated on low or low-medium, depending on your stove. Let the poppy seeds heat up for about a minute.

  2. Step 2

Add butter to the warmed poppy seeds. Let the butter and the poppy seeds cook gently for a few minutes (2-5 minutes, generally).

  3. Step 3

Once the butter is completely melted and smells lightly nutty from the seeds, it is done. Pour the butter over pasta, vegetables (like broccoli or asparagus), or fish and enjoy.

Tips & Warnings
  • Butter burns easily, you must give all your attention to the poppy seed butter while you cook it. Fortunately, this only takes a few minutes.
  • If your butter is brown or darker, you have overcooked it and possibly burned it.
