With these instructions you will be able to grow your own pineapple plant from the pineapple you purchased at the grocery store. This is a simple process and usually begins growing in days and produces pineapples after two or three years.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Cut the top part of the pineapple off, leaving about an inch of the fruit intact.

  2. Step 2

Fill the flower pot 3/4 full of potting soil

  3. Step 3

Plant the pineapple top into the soil. Adding more soil to make sure that the fruit area is fully covered up to the leaves.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep the plant watered and in an area that gets full sun.
  • If you live in an area that has cold winters just move the plant inside to a sunny window and limit watering it to once a week or so.
  • The pineapple plant will grow rapidly once it takes root, so make sure to re-pot it in larger pots as needed or just start out in a large pot.
  • Before the plant takes root it may look like it is dying. The tips of the leaves will turn brown. Don't throw it out. Once the plant takes root this will stop. You may want to cut the tips off once you notice it is no longer browning.
  • If you notice the soil is covered in bugs the plant didn't root and is dead. throw it out and try again.
