Steamed vegetables are great for any meal. It can be done on both the stove and in the microwave. Steamed vegetables can also be used for baby food.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

For the microwave you will need a microwave safe bowl or glass measuring cup. Put vegetables and a small amount of water in the bowl and cover with a piece of plastic wrap. Poke a few tiny holes in the plastic wrap. Cook on high for about 5 minutes or until steamed to your liking

  2. Step 2

For stove top steaming you will boil a pot of water and place a heat safe wire rack on top of the pan. Place your vegetables on top of the rack and allow the steam to cook them.

  3. Step 3

There are also pans that are made especially for steaming vegetables. These will have a place to put water and then an extra insert to place the vegetables in and a lid to cover the entire pot.

  4. Step 4

There are not vegetables in the frozen food section that come in steam bags. You simply place them in the microwave for the allotted time on the back of the bag and they steam perfectly in the bag. No fuss or mess.
