Clay is a natural beauty treatment used to remove pollutants from the skin and improve the skins overall texture. Clay makes a wonderful beauty mask and you can make your own at home.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Clay
  • Bowl
  • Water
  1. Step 1

You will begin by choosing the right clay for your skin.

*Rhassoul Clay - Comes from the Atlas mountains. This clay is used frequently in spas due to it's smooth texture.

*French Green Clay - Comes from France. This clay is very absorbent and is the best clay for pulling impurities from the skin.

*Fuller's Earth Clay - This clay is well-known for it's skin lightening properties. It is also very good for oily skin.

*Bentonite Clay - This clay is made by volcanic ash in the US. It's most interesting property is that it's edible! It is used in natural health as an internal supplement to assist with mineral deficiencies. It is also used to purify the body and skin of toxins.

  2. Step 2

Make a trip to your local health food store to purchase the clay of your choice. Most clays are economical and can be purchased for less than $10.00 per pound.

  3. Step 3

Mix the clay in a small glass bowl adding just enough water to form a paste. The most important thing to remember about mixing clay is that a little goes a long way. You will not need very much to cover a large area of skin. With your hands, apply the clay to your face or body. Relax and enjoy your homemade clay skin treatment. Allow the clay to dry for 20 minutes, then rinse from the skin with warm water.

Tips & Warnings
  • Masks should be used once a week to maintain great looking skin.
  • You will notice an immediate glow to your skin following clay mask treatments.
  • Excess clay can be stored in a sealed container in the refrigerator for later use.
