How to Feed a Family of Four for $30 a Week

You might be asking yourself how is this possible with food prices at an all time high. It's possible when you have an angel; Angel Food Ministries that is. It all started back in 1994 when Pastors Joe and Linda Wingo set out to feed families in need in Georgia and now it has grown to 500,000 families nationwide today. The program is open to anyone, any income level or religious denomination. Food is distributed once a month and the menus vary. The food is high quality and retails for around $60. Every menu has meat, vegetables, dairy,dessert and other items. There are additional packages that can be purchased after buying the main package and even a package of precooked meals for seniors. This is how the program works.

• Box or laundry basket
• Computer

   Look at the Angel Food Ministries web site(see link below) and click on "Find Local Site". Scroll down and put in your zip code. It will show a list of host in your area which is usually a church. Find the one closest to where you live and click on 'more'. This will bring you to a link for the host. From that site you will be able to view the menu for that month, dates and time for ordering and delivery of food.

2. On the ordering date go to the local Angel Food Ministries host location to order your regular package and any additional packages. You must purchase the regular menu package before you can order special packages. These sell for $21 each and consist of meat packages or fresh fruit and vegetable packages. At the time you order you will need to pay for your order with either cash or food stamp (EBT).

   The other date and time listed is for distribution of the food. You will need to return to the same location as you ordered to pick up your food. Bring a large box or laundry basket with you to carry your food. Angel Food Ministries is a nonprofit organization and their mission is to feed Americans.

Tips & Warnings

• Keep your receipt when you place your order. You will need this when you pick up your order.
• If you know a family in need, why not buy a regular menu package for them too.
