Floral waters can be used in a variety of ways because they are not as heavily scented as perfumes or colognes. A splash of rose scented floral water applied to the skin immediately after a refreshing bath is a wonderful pick-me-up. It re-energizes, lifts the spirit and can be added directly to bath water. Rose scented floral water is easy to make and requires only four ingredients.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 cups distilled water
  • 1/4 cup vodka
  • ½ cup fresh red rose petals
  • 10 drops rose essential oil
  • Large glass bottle with lid for mixing
  • Wooden spoon
  • Strainer
  • Decorative glass bottle with lid
  1. Step 1

Wash and rinse the glass bottle you will use for mixing. Using a paper towel, dry the outside of the bottle, but allow the inside to thoroughly air dry.

  2. Step 2

Pour the distilled water into the mixing bottle and add the vodka. Vodka is used instead of regular rubbing alcohol because it does not have a scent.

  3. Step 3

Using the wooden spoon put the rose petals in the liquid and stir gently until completely wet.

  4. Step 4

Add the rose essential oil and stir again.

  5. Step 5

Place the lid on the bottle and store in a cool, dark place for seven to ten days to allow the scent to fully blend.

  6. Step 6

Remove the rose petals and strain the liquid into a decorative glass bottle. The liquid will have been delicately colored red from the rose petals.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use the rose scented floral water as potpourri. Just uncover the bottle and let the fragrance fill the room.
  • Because of the alcohol content, keep the rose scented floral water and all supplies out of the reach of children.
