Here's how to make powdered sugar in the blender. It's not as fine as store bought powered sugar, but it does the trick in a pinch.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Pour two cups of granulated sugar into a blender. Or, pour in the same amount of granulated sugar as the amount of powdered sugar you need. Granulated sugar turns into powdered sugar at about a 1:1 ratio.

  2. Step 2

Put the blender on a high setting, but turn the speed down as the sugar grinds finer. Then turn the blender on in shorter bursts as the sugar turns to powder. You can also use the pulse setting.

  3. Step 3

Open the lid of the blender and check the quality of the powder. Real powder sugar is very fine, so keep blending to the finest grade possible if you need to use your powdered sugar for ornamentation.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can also add cornstarch to the granulated sugar, at the ratio of 1/2 tablespoon per cup of sugar. This makes the resulting powdered sugar a little finer.
