Things You'll Need:
- Pumpkins
- White Glue
- Hot Glue
- Embellishments - Glitter, sequins, pearl headed pins, ribbon, paint etc...
- spoon
- kitchen knife
- Votives of tea lights
- Plastic bowl or cup
-
Step 1
Gather some pumpkins and small gourds from your local pumpkin patch.
Wash and dry them off; the glue and paint will stick better if they're clean.
You can also coordinate your decorated pumpkins and make a beautiful centerpiece for your table. -
Step 2
Now to decorate your pumpkin you can use a metallic paint pen and draw designs on it like stars, swirls, leaves or you can put your family's last name on it in big letters. You can attach star sequins to your pumpkin with pearl headed straight pins. Or you can just tie a pretty and festive ribbon onto the stem of your pumpkin.
-
Step 3
You can also cover the entire pumpkin in glitter just brush on regular white glue all over pumpkin and then sprinkle with glitter.
Or you can make a frosted pumpkin using glitter. Just use a bottle of white dimensional paint apply it to the raised ridges of the stem and at the bottom of the stem make a puddle. Add some lines going down from the stem at different lengths like it's melting. Sprinkle on white iridescent glitter over paint. Now with the white dimensional paint draw on some snowflakes and sprinkle glitter on those too. -
Step 4
To make a candleholder pumpkin; using a small gourd cut a round hole big enough for a votive or tea light to sit in.
You can also make a pumpkin vase. Make sure the pumpkin you choose will sit well and won't tip over. Now you need to cut the top off the pumpkin and clean out the inside with a spoon. Put in a plastic liner a plastic bowl or cup will do; just make sure you cut the hole so it will fit snuggly. Fill bowl or cup with cool water and add fall flowers of your choice.
