Here's how to conserve water while you take your daily shower.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Skip the extensive shower warm up.

Don't start the water running minutes before you get in. Start the water only right before you're ready to get in the shower. Test the water with your hand and get in as soon as it's comfortable.

  2. Step 2

Wash and condition your hair at the beginning of the shower.

This gets your shower started off quickly, and will lead to much less time spent in the water.

  3. Step 3

    Take fewer showers.

No one wants to skip getting clean. But don't take a shower just because you're bored or looking for something to do.

  4. Step 4

    Time your showers.

Get in the shower while your favorite song starts playing and get out when it ends. Create a routine.

  5. Step 5

Find other ways to get warm.

A lot of people take long showers because they're cold. Put warmer blankets on your bed and wear warmer clothes in the winter time.

  6. Step 6

    Take saunas.

Saunas have many of the same benefits of a shower and use barely any water. In fact, many cultures have traditionally used them instead of showers. Saunas are a great way to get warm and conserve water.
