A single kiss shared with someone you like or love that is intense or electrifying, referred to as "making out" in the United States, "pulling" in the United Kingdom and "meeting" in Ireland takes a little more variety, coordination and finesse. Here are a few ways to deepen the quality and intimacy of making out. Doesn't matter if it's someone new or your significant other or spouse, that you've known a long time!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Sweet breath
  • An attractive partner who is passionately attracted to you.
  • Enthusiasm
  • Love
  1. Step 1

Fresh breath and soft lips at times. You may never know when the other person will cross paths and have the opportunity to kiss. Wear a good lip balm. Because nobody wants to make out with dry lips. When you know you're going to be together, brush your teeth and take some mints with you. I wouldn't recommend bringing gum, because that increases saliva.

  2. Step 2

Move slowly its the most effective way to prevent head butting, elbowing, and clanking teeth. As time progresses, you can introduce more passionate kisses.

  3. Step 3

Make good eye contact and smile! Pause every now and again to meet your eyes with theirs and bond emotionally. This is a good time to gently lean your forehead against theirs and put your hand on their face. If you're with someone you love, this is the best time time to tell them that you love them.

  4. Step 4

Kiss the face and neck. Kiss the corner of their mouth gently, and make your way along their jawline. You can move up to their temple and forehead. If you want to kiss their ear, don't peck, the kissing sound is loud and can leave a ringing in the ear.

  5. Step 5

Hug. Right after a forehead or neck kiss, wrap your arms around your partner and give them a warm, affectionate embrace.

  6. Step 6

Stroke their hair. If your partner is a guy, run your fingers through his hair along the scalp, all the way down to their neck. If your partner is a woman, you can run your fingers down her hair, allowing the strands to run through your fingers.

  7. Step 7

Talk. Verbal communication will keep things interesting. You won't have to start a deep conversation, just a small phrase in a soft voice will work wonders, especially when it's accompanied by good eye contact and a reassuring smile.

  8. Step 8

Lighten up. It's not the movies, where it's all wonderful and passionate. Remember to always have your eyes closed, because you don't want your partner to look up for an awkward moment.

Tips & Warnings
  • Close your eyes while kissing. It is okay to peek, but most people find it creepy to make out with someone who has their eyes open the entire time!!
  • Make sure you know how far you're going to let things go, if things start to go a bit too heavy, tell your partner that you're not ready to take it all the way.
  • Don't kiss too hard, unless you they enjoy it.
  • If you are feeling pressured to take things further, tell them, NO, plain and simple.
  • If you plan to make out, never make out after heavy alcohol consumption and or drug use, because that could lead into something else, causing further complications. Don't let it be something that you'll regret later.

on 10/3/2008 I think a lot of women instinctively get this. If only a few more men would admit needing a little guidance, they might find themselves nicely rewarded for their research ;-)
