For the medication to be properly absorbed and reach maximum effectiveness, your dog should first be thoroughly washed and dried.

Apply Frontline where your dog will not be able to reach it with his mouth. Normally, the most popular areas for application are between the shoulder blades or a few inches above the tail on the back.

For Frontline to be absorbed properly, the medicine should be placed directly on your dog's skin. After deciding on the best spot for application, gently spread your dog's fur either by hand or with a dog brush. Expose as much skin as possible.

Apply the medication liberally. Don't dump the entire tube onto your dog's skin at once. Gradually spread the medication out in a smooth, controlled manner. Applying too much at one time will cause a large part of it to be absorbed by your dog's hair. You may also choose to place the medication in two spots instead of one. Many place half the tube of Frontline on a spot near the shoulder blades and the other half on the back by the tail. Doing this helps to ensure that more medication reaches the skin.

To give the medication enough time to absorb, keep your dog dry and prevent him from rolling around in the dirt or on the grass. Allow at least one full day for the medication to become fully absorbed.
