How to Find the Hidden Paintbrush on Magic Kingdom's Tom Sawyer Island

Walt Disney World is known for hidden magic throughout the grounds. When in the Magic Kingdom, many overlook taking the raft to Tom Sawyer Island when in Frontierland. Amongst the forests and trails, one to five paintbrushes are hidden daily by Disney cast members. Should you and your party find one of these paintbrushes, you can return it to a Disney employee in exchange for a Fastpass for your entire party. In order to benefit from this piece of Disney magic, it's best to have a plan!

  • Arrive early. Get to Magic Kingdom when it opens. The first raft leaves from Frontierland for Tom Sawyer Island about an hour after the park officially opens and it is best to be on the first raft out there to give yourself the best chance when the island is less crowded.

  • Ask a Disney cast member for hints. The raft operator, if feeling generous, might tell you how many paintbrushes are hidden on the island that day and could potentially give you clues.

  • Decide amongst your group, who will search a specific section of the island.

  • Check every nook and cranny around the island. You could be sitting on a bench and find one right underneath you, or you could have to dig around in a darkened cave. The hiding places are different each day. Use cell phones or walkie talkies to communicate with the rest of your party to make sure you've covered all areas.

  • Take the paintbrush, to a Disney Cast Member to claim your prize. Remember, there can only be one paintbrush per party.
