Are you an avid retail shopper? Store credit cards are a great resource. Applying online makes them even easier, too. Follow these easy steps to apply for the JCPenney card online and start shopping.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Make sure you have ample credit before applying for a store credit card. Though consumers often believe that store credit cards are the key to creating credit history, the opposite is often true. Credit cards are often more difficult to obtain than major credit cards. Also, applying for credit cards and being rejected ruins your credit history. So before you apply, make sure you have enough credit history to be accepted.

  2. Step 2

Surf over to the JCPenney website. (Follow the link in Resources.)

  3. Step 3

Click on the "Customer Service" link at the top of the page.

  4. Step 4

Click on the "JCP Credit Card" link in the left-hand menu.

  5. Step 5

Click the "Apply now" link, which will bring you to the application.

  6. Step 6

Review the terms of the contract. Ensure that you want to apply for this type of credit card.

  7. Step 7

Provide all the requested personal information and submit.

  8. Step 8

Wait for response telling you whether you have been approved or denied. If you are denied, wait at least 6 months before reapplying.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be aware that the interest rates on store credit cards are quite high. Pay your bill on time and in full to avoid significant charges.
