Do your friends love their Wii as much as you do? Wii points allow users to download content from the console's store. The store also allows you to give the games you purchase with points to other friends with a Wii, as long as you have their console information on your machine. Old video games and software are some examples of what can be purchased with Wii Points. 100 Wii Points are equal to $1. Wii Points cannot be sent directly to a friend, though Wii gift cards can be purchased at a store.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Make sure your friend's console is listed in your Address Book. They cannot be sent gifts otherwise.

  2. Step 2

On the main menu screen, navigate to the Wii Shop Channel.

  3. Step 3

Select Start from the main Wii Shop Channel, and select "Start Shopping" after the loading screen.

  4. Step 4

Make sure you have enough Wii Points for your purchase. This is displayed on the bottom of your screen. If not, select "Add Wii Points" from the Shop Channel menu, and follow the directions.

  5. Step 5

Once you have Wii Points, browse for the game or software you want to give.

  6. Step 6

Select "Gift" from the bottom set of options.

  7. Step 7

The Wii screen will then ask you which Wii friend you wish to give this gift to. Select their Mii, or Wii character.

  8. Step 8

The next screen will ask you if you wish to send a message with your gift. Type one in, and hit "OK." This will send your Wii game gift.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you want to give friends or family the option of choosing their own Wii games, Wii Points are also available in hard form as gift cards. They are available in most places where Wii accessories are sold and come in 500, 1,000 and 2,000 point cards.
