Things You'll Need:

  • Access to the top book lists
  • Informative sales clerks
  • The inside cover of the book in question

  1. Step 1

Read the top selling lists. There is a reason why some of those books are selling so good. Okay, so some of it has to do with good advertising, and great publicity. But a lot of it comes down to a hard truth. A book will make the top sellers lists because they are actually good book to read.

Ask the sales clerks at the bookstore for their opinion. If you tell them the type of book you are interested in reading, they are sure to have an opinion or two to share with you. This also holds true with librarians.
There are a reason many people works at bookstores. One is the money and two is the love for books and reading.

  3. Step 3

Open the book and read the inside jacket sleeve. Then glance at the first couple of paragraphs. Sometimes you can just tell from that first page if a book is going to be one you will like or not.

  4. Step 4

Ask your friends what their favorites are. Who knows, they may even have a copy to share with you.

  5. Step 5

Look at the artwork. Who knows if the art work appeals to you, they book may.
