1
Buy tickets to the VooDoo Experience. This is a 3-day festival, so there are two options for tickets. You can buy a 3-day pass for the entire festival, or a single day ticket for one of the 3 days. With a 3-day pass, you can go in and out of the venue as you please, which is not allowed with a single-day ticket. Tickets can be found online from VooDoo's website--they will link you to Ticketmaster.

2
Get a hotel room in the New Orleans area. The recommended hotel on the festival's website is the New Orleans Marriott on Canal Street. You can get a discounted rate by staying there if you mention the VooDoo Experience. Anywhere around Canal Street is a good place to stay, or you could rent a hotel room conveniently by the New Orleans airport.

Buy your plane ticket if you don't live in New Orleans or live close enough to drive. The airport you'll want to fly into is the Louis Armstrong International Airport (abbreviated MSY). VooDoo recommends Southwest Airlines for flights. If you're close enough to drive, you'll want to take Interstate 10 to Metairie Road.

Check the weather on the day of the event. If there's a chance of rain, bring an umbrella with you to the concert. This is a rain or shine event, no refunds. October weather in New Orleans can be unpredictable, like most places, so make sure you pack an umbrella in your suitcase just to be safe.

Figure out how to get from your hotel to the VooDoo Experience. If you're staying at the New Orleans Marriott, you can hop on the VooDoo shuttle for a nominal fee, which will take you straight to the concert grounds. You can also take a bus or streetcar for only $1.25 each way. As always, taxis are also available and can be called from any hotel.

Tips & Warnings
If you're considering buying a single-day ticket, check the VooDoo website for the complete band lineup for each day of the festival. Pick the day that has the most musical acts you like.
Bring earplugs with you, especially if you're attending all 3 days. You don't want to seriously damage your hearing, and earplugs will help lessen that damage.
