Step 1
Plan to arrive mid morning, and take a walking tour of the neighborhood surrounding Zoe’s. Many of the homes in the nearby historic neighborhood are beautifully restored, with gardens to match. You'll see bungalows, Mission-style houses and charming flat roof casitas sharing space on the same block.
-
Step 2
Bring a healthy appetite. Zoe’s serves fresh and simple fare with the emphasis on healthy cooking. The menu was researched and analyzed by a nutritionist to insure optimum balance. Specialties include grilled chicken, Greek-style salads and pita sandwiches.
-
Step 3
Save room for the housemade chocolate sheet cake. At $1.50 per slice, it’s a bargain and well worth the calories. The cake can also be ordered whole to go.Order at the self-serve counter, and have patience if it’s near noon. Zoe’s gets crowded in a hurry. Plan to spend under $10 per person. Choose a window table inside the bright, citrus-toned eatery and watch the passers-by on this busy street, or bring your laptop and order a coffee or tea and plug into the free wireless internet for a little surf time.
-
Step 4
Head to Bert Easley’s Fun Shop next door after your visit. It's a costume shop and outfitter that’s been a Phoenix institution for years. You can pick up a shocking pink wig, fishnets or a cool mask here, or buy a bonus-size bag of party favors. Or head to downtown Phoenix, an easy ten minute drive, for an amble through art galleries and antique shops.
