Instructions

    • 1

Organize a Halloween Party for the children in the neighborhood. Adults are welcome to play the Halloween Penny Toss as well. This is a game where each adult or child should be allowed to have at least 10 attempts to toss a penny into a carved pumpkin.

    • 2

Carve several pumpkins with funny and scary faces. Do not put candles in these pumpkins when playing the Halloween Penny Toss. Be sure to leave the tops of the pumpkins off so there is a hole in the top of each one. These pumpkins should be of various sizes.

    • 3

Make a line on the ground with tape that each player must stand behind on his turn. Place the pumpkins at various distances from the line. Explain to each of the players that the farther away the pumpkin is from the line, the larger the piece of candy the player wins for tossing a penny into the pumpkin.

    • 4

Give each player anywhere from five to 10 pennies and ask them to form a line behind the tape line to take turns one at a time. Direct each player on his turn to toss his pennies into the carved pumpkins one at a time.

    • 5

Give each player one piece of candy f-r each penny that she tosses into a pumpkin. Give out full-size candy bars for the pumpkin that is farthest away, snack size candy bars for the pumpkins that are medium distance away. Give out smaller pieces of candy such as gum, hard candy and lollipops for the pumpkins that are close to the tape line.

Tips & Warnings

  • Give the younger children more pennies to throw than the older children if you wish, this will give the younger ones a better chance to win candy.

  • Make sure each child receives one piece of candy even if he fails to get any pennies into a pumpkin.

  • Be careful about the pennies with small children. Supervise them closely to avoid the pennies being put in their mouths.
