Instructions

    • 1

Paint 4 of the clothespins entirely in green craft paint.

    • 2

Use paint to cover the other 8 clothespins in red craft paint. Make sure all areas of the clothespins are covered in paint, and allow the paint to dry before moving on to the next step.

    • 3

Place the green clothespins into the shape of a cross with their heads touching, and fuse them together with craft glue.

    • 4

Form the red clothespins into a circle with the heads of the clothespins touching, and the legs facing outwards like a sunburst. Once you have the clothespins in place, secure them with craft glue. Allow the glue to dry before you move on.

    • 5

Lay the red clothespins that are in a circle over the cross-shaped green clothespins, and rotate them until you can see the green clothespins or "leaves" poking out from in between the red clothespins or "petals" of your poinsettia.

    • 6

Glue the red clothespins into place over the green ones and allow the glue to dry once again.

    • 7

Cut a small circle large enough to cover the hole in the center of the red clothespin's circle from red craft foam, and glue it in place over the hole.

    • 8

Attach some white craft beads to the red craft foam in the center of the poinsettia to form seeds for your flower.

    • 9

Tie or glue a ribbon or string around your clothespin poinsettia to hang it up on a tree, wreath or other location in your home. Visit the resource below for more poinsettia craft ideas.

Tips & Warnings

  • Outline the "petals" or red clothespins of your poinsettia in glue and sprinkle on gold glitter to give your flower some extra sparkle.

  • Place a photo in the center of the poinsettia instead of white beads to add a personal touch to your craft.

  • Supervise young children when they are using paint and glue.
