How to Save Money on Christmas Cards
Christmas cards are a great way to send greetings to your loved ones during the holiday season. However, you can end up spending quite a bit of money on these cards. Instead of them being a big expense, here are some ways that you can save some money and use the savings to buy yourself a gift as a reward for surviving the holiday season.

1
Shop at the dollar store. The majority of the cards are really beautiful, good quality and aren’t too tacky. Some dollar stores sell boxes of Christmas cards, but pick them up quickly before they sell out.

2
Make your recipient list before you buy the cards. You would be surprised how many people buy the cards first and then make the list. If you know the amount of people you need to send cards out to, you’ll know how many cards you need to get. Only get a few cards extra in case you make a mistake on any of them.

Send e-cards. Many greeting card sites have an entire selection of e-cards that you can send for free. While it’s the less traditional measure of sending out holiday greetings, it’s the best way for you to save money. Not only does it save on the cost of the cards, but also on the cost of the stamp (see Resources below).

4
Buy cards right after Christmas for the following year. Cards can go on sale after the holidays. They can sometimes be as much as 75 percent or more off of the initial price. If you know you’re going to have a lot of cards to send out the next year, you may as well save money and buy them while they’re on sale instead of when they cost full price.
-
5
Limit how many people you send cards out to. Really take a look at the people you send out cards to. If you haven’t heard from a certain person in years, whether it be through the mail or by phone, then there’s no reason to keep sending them a card. If you bring a small gift, such as a platter of cookies, to your doctor or someone else, then you can skip on the card for them as well.

6
Allow your child make the cards. If the pictures are going to get drawn by the children anyway, they may as well end up on the front of a card and be sent out to loved ones.

Tips & Warnings
Don't buy single cards; buy them in a box of 20 or more instead. You'll waste a lot of money if you buy them in singles.
