How to Make Montessori Verb Cards
Montessori verb cards play a part in a wide variety of lessons that help students practice reading, sentence building and the parts of speech. Verb cards can be used alone or in conjunction with other lesson materials, so the more cards you have on hand the wider the variety of options for learning opportunities.

1
Make a list of one-syllable verbs. Use actions that are familiar, for example, "run," "hop," or "sit."
-
2
Use a red marker and write a single verb from your list on each notecard. In montessori lessons, verbs are almost always written in red, or in white against a red background. This helps with sentence building and identifying parts of speech.

3
Laminate the cards using contact paper. The easiest way to do this is to lay the cards out on a large piece of contact paper. Then seal all of the cards within the paper. Press down from the center of the contact paper to the outer edges, eliminating air bubbles as you go. Trim off excess plastic so the cards are the same size.

4
Store the verb cards in an easily accessible location. Once a child has learned a verb card activity, she should be able to practice it whenever she likes. The cards should be stored in an area where the child can retrieve them, use them and then put them away independently. Depending on the lesson, you may store the cards alone or with other teaching materials.
