Tallahassee is the capital of the southern United States state of Florida. Known for its many hills, Tallahassee is a beautiful place that boasts a warm, subtropical climate. The weather is one of the reasons that Tallahassee is an excellent vacation area, however, the city also has an abundance of parks, lakes, museums and missions. There is no shortage of things to do and see in Tallahassee.

1. Visit the Mary Brogan Museum of Art and Science. This is a great place for visitors to explore various interactive, hands-on exhibits. It is an ideal museum for children to spark an interest the mathematics and science fields. Be sure to check out the amazing interactive weather station and flight trainer exhibitions.

2. Take a look at the Florida State Capitol. Back in the day, the State Capitol used to be composed of a mere three log cabins. Nowadays, visitors can look at the brick Capitol which was built in 1845. It is now a museum that contains exhibits revolving around Florida's political history, as well as the history of the building itself.

3. Explore Alfred B. Maclay State Gardens. This vast 28 acre botanical garden is notable for its large collection of camellias. However, there are plenty of other varieties of both local and exotic flowers on the premises. Founded in 1923, Alfred B. Maclay's house is also on the museum grounds. Visitors can view the period furnishings of the Maclay home, restored to perfection.

4. Check out the Tallahassee Antique Car Museum. This is a unique museum that has a wide array of antique cars. Visitors can observe everything including pedal cars, boating artifacts, motorcycles and even sports memorabilia. Be sure to take a look at the horse-drawn hearse.

5. Relax at Lake Ella. This beautiful lake has picnic spots, recreation centers, walking trails, and even charming little restaurants and cafes. Many people go skating and skateboarding on the trails here, as well. It is the perfect way to spend time relaxing and soaking up the beautiful weather and essence of Tallahassee as a city.
