The Mardi Gras celebrations in Panama City, Florida, are fun for the whole family. To really be a part of it all, you can join a Mardi Gras krewe and become an active participant in the numerous parades and events.

From Quick Guide: Mardi Gras
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Learn about the different krewes. There are more than 14 different krewes in the Panama City area, and each represents a different type of membership. Find out what each krewe represents and what membership is like. View the krewes at the parades and see which one seems most fun to you.

  2. Step 2

Contact the krewe. Most have websites and phone numbers where you can reach their members for more information on meeting times and memberships. Ask if you can attend an orientation meeting just to see if that krewe is the right group for you.

  3. Step 3

Download an application or pick one up. Most krewes have a membership application that you need to fill out. Fill it out to the best of your ability, including all information that they ask for.

  4. Step 4

Get a sponsor. Some of the larger krewes require a sponsor to join. It’s not mandatory, but it will help your chances of getting into the krewe as a member. Some of the smaller krewes do not require this.

  5. Step 5

Pay your dues. Most krewes require a membership fee to offset the cost of operating and being a part of the festivities during Mardi Gras. Find out what each krewe charges as fees so that you don't join a krewe with dues you cannot afford each year.

  6. Step 6

Pick committees you are willing to help out. Almost all krewes have committees, such as fund-raising or photography. Be willing to help out in these committees in their functions throughout the year. Make sure you have the time to volunteer.
