How to Make a Santa's Sleigh Centerpiece
Solve the problem of whether or not to open gifts on Christmas eve by creating a Santa’s sleigh centerpiece. This is also a brilliant way to satisfy young children who are overly excited at the prospect of opening gifts. Once constructed, each person takes hold of the ribbon with their name on it, and at the count of three, gives the ribbon a tug. Each person will then pull his gift towards him. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Small stuffed Santa (optional)
- Small plastic or wicker Santa’s sleigh
- Cotton blanket or piece of holiday cloth
- Ribbon (whatever color you wish)
- Scissors
- Tape
- Small gifts for each person

1
Wrap one small stocking stuffer type gift for each person. These should ideally be something personalized to the person who will be receiving the gift, but nothing expensive--a personalized pen, a small book, a game of jacks or a pair of funky socks. Music CDs work well for this type of activity.

2
Stack the gifts in the center of the table. Make a pile of them, one resting on top of the other in a nice little circle.

3
Cut lengths of ribbon of ½ to an inch wide and about 4 feet long. The length will depend on the size of the table you are using. If there are only four people, then the table you use would be smaller and thus the length of the ribbon would not need to be so long. For larger groups with larger tables, a longer ribbon might be needed.
-
4
Tie one ribbon around each gift. Stretch the "tail" of the ribbon across the table away from the stack of gifts and tape the ribbon to the table.
-
5
Attach a decorated name tag to the end of each ribbon at the edge of the table.
-
6
Top of the stack of gifts with a soft cotton blanket or pretty Christmas cloth. Cover the stack so that the gifts cannot be seen.
-
7
Finish of the Santa’s sleigh with an actual Santa’s sleigh. You can place a small stuffed Santa in the sleigh if you wish.
