Installing electric landscape lights can make your pathways and yard area look eye pleasing while providing safety as well. You don't have to hire a professional to install landscaping lights, though. Purchase a landscape light kit online or at your local home improvement store and you'll brighten up your yard in no time.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Landscape light kit
  • Shovel
  1. Step 1

Attach the power pack/transformer to the cable for the lights.

  2. Step 2

Plug the transformer into a 110-volt outlet that is not switched so there is constant power to your lights.

  3. Step 3

If the transformer has a timer, set it to the "on" position. If the transformer has a darkness sensor, tape over it with electric tape.

  4. Step 4

Assemble the lights together according to the manufacturer's instructions. Do this while the transformer is on.

  5. Step 5

Attach the lights along the wire with the provided connectors. The lights will make contact and illuminate.

  6. Step 6

Push the stake end of the lights into the ground and position them to your individual preferences. Repeat until you have all of the lights installed in the ground.

  7. Step 7

After you have completed the lighting layout and all the lights are working, bury the cable in the ground using your shovel.

  8. Step 8

Set the timer or remove the tape from the light sensor and wait until dark to enjoy your lights.

Tips & Warnings
