How to Delete a MySpace Account

A social networking phenomenon has changed the landscape of Internet usage in the last couple of years. One of the front runners in this revolution is the MySpace site, where people can create a profile and add friends who are also using the site. Although it is still a popular way to network with friends both old and new, some people have switched over to other sites such as Facebook and they found no need to retain their MySpace account. It is easy to delete a MySpace account, but before you do, you should inform your friends so they won't be surprised once they notice that you have gone missing online.

Instructions

1. Log in with your username (email address) and password. You will then be brought to the home page where you can see if you have new messages, friend requests and friend status updates.

2. Click on the link "My Account" on the upper right-hand corner of the page. This should be fairly easy to locate since it is close to the "Sign Out" button and has a white font color against a blue background.

3. Click on the Account tab, near the left-hand corner. This is the second tab from the left, just after the contact info tab. By clicking on the "Account" tab, you will see an Account Cancellation area near the bottom of the page. This account cancellation area is bold in color so you won't be able to miss it. You should find a link to cancel your account.

4. Click on the link to cancel the account. This is a text link that you need to click in order to direct you to the page where you can delete your account. Clicking on this link won't cancel your account just yet. You need to follow the instructions in the next few pages that the link will direct you to.

5. Confirm the account cancellation by clicking on "Cancel My Account." You will receive an email for further instructions on how to confirm the cancellation. There is usually a link that you have to click in order to finalize the process and have your account completely deleted.
