Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Foundation
  • Concealer
  • Translucent powder
  • Small angled brush
  • Eyeshadow to match your brow color
  • Mascara
  • Mid-tone to dark matte eyeshadow
  • Eyeshadow blending brush or cotton swab
  • Matte bone or taupe eyeshadow
  • Black liquid eyeliner or black eye pencil
  • Eyelash curler
  • True red lipstick
  • Clear lip gloss
  • Natural-looking blush
  1. Step 1

Apply your usual foundation over clean, moisturized skin. Base is what evens out your skin tone and gives your complexion a more flawless appearance, so do not scrimp on this product. If you need some concealing under the eyes, on the other hand, you may be able to get away with using a budget concealer. It should be a notch or two lighter than your skin tone to brighten up your eyes, but if you purchase one that is too light, simply stipple on some of your foundation over it. Perfect the appearance of your application by dusting translucent powder over the area.

  2. Step 2

Define your brow shape with a small angled brush dipped into eyeshadow if you do not happen upon any brow pencils or powders. To hold color in place, purchase mascara in either brown or dark brown depending on your brow color. Take the wand out of the tube, wipe away excess product on a tissue and brush brow hairs in place.

  3. Step 3

Select a mid-tone to dark eyeshadow. Apply it wet from lash line to crease, as well as on the lower lash lines. Wetting a lower quality powder eyeshadow will make it appear more vivid, vibrant and richer. Stay away from brights as these can look cheap and tacky. Your safest bet is a classic shade like black or gray in a matte formulation. After the eyeshadow dries, clean up any hard lines with an eyeshadow blending brush or a cotton swab. Smooth a matte bone or taupe shadow onto browbones.

  4. Step 4

Bring out upper lash lines with a black liquid eyeliner. Dollar eye pencils sometimes tug on skin and deposit spotty color, so your best bet is a liquid eyeliner. If that goes on spotty as well, line your eyes first with a black pencil before tracing over it with the liquid liner. Make it easier on yourself by warming the pencil up first over a small flame. Test its temperature on the back of your hand before applying to your eyes. Curl your eyelashes and enhance your eyes with mascara.

  5. Step 5

Find a true red lipstick. Pat foundation over your lips for color that shows up more closely to its appearance in the package and does not bleed or feather. Dab lipstick onto the center of your top and bottom lips. Create a stained effect by blending the color outwards to meet your natural lip line. For a professional-looking application, make sure you don't miss the corners of your mouth. If the color appears too light, repeat the process to your satisfaction, always beginning at the center of your lips. If the product is too dry, feel free to dab a small amount of clear gloss on your lips.

  6. Step 6

Skip cheek color altogether or buff a slightly deeper version of your natural flush onto the apples of your cheeks. With strong eyes and lips, you can choose to opt out of using blush. Before stepping out, dust translucent powder all over face to set makeup and tame shine.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you have it, use a makeup primer all over face and on eyelids before applying foundation. This will not only make your application go on more smoothly, but helps your makeup last longer as well.
