How to Become a Vet Tech in Minnesota

Being a veterinary technician is a rewarding, fulfilling career in which there seems to be no shortage of need. By this point, you will have completed your training and graduated from an accredited college or vet tech program. Here are some tips on how to get started on your Minnesota state certification.

Things You'll Need:

  • Proof of graduation
  • Registration form for Minnesota state exam
  1. Step 1

    Register for and complete the Veterinary Technician National Exam. You can register online (see the link below).

  2. Step 2

    Complete the Minnesota state exam. To register, contact the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association at101 Bridgepoint Way, Suite 100 South St. Paul, MN 55075or through email at info@mvma.org

  3. Step 3

    Send a copy of your diploma or official transcripts to the MVMA office. Test results may take up to 90 days to receive. If you passed both tests, a certificate and continuing-education card will be mailed to you. You will also receive information on recertification requirements.

  4. Step 4

    Recertify your license every two years by earning 10 continuing education credits (one hour of lectures equals one continuing-ed credit).
