Parents of twins need to have a double stroller. A double stroller is a stroller that accommodates two children. Some double strollers sit children side by side while others sit them front to back. When twins are infants, a frame that accommodates two infant car seats works perfectly, but once they outgrow those seats, a traditional stroller is a necessity. When shopping for a twin stroller, follow these steps.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide if you want a stroller that seats side by side or tandem. Side by side strollers are easier to maneuver but tandem strollers are usually narrower. Most side by side double strollers can fit through a standard door frame.

  2. Step 2

Opt for a double stroller that is suitable for children birth and up. Some double strollers can accommodate children from birth to 50 pounds, giving you the most bang for your buck.

  3. Step 3

Look for a stroller that has reclining seats. A stroller that has reclining seats is perfect because it allows your twins to nap comfortably while out and about. Maclaren offers side by side twin strollers with fully reclining seats.

  4. Step 4

Choose a stroller that has a five-point harness. A five-point harness is best to safely restrain your twins. A five-point harness has straps that go over the shoulders and clip onto the lap strap.

  5. Step 5

Select a double stroller that folds compactly and fits in the trunk of your vehicle. You want to be able to easily open, close and store your stroller.

  6. Step 6

Opt for a double stroller with a lifetime warranty. The wear and tear of pushing two makes this a necessity.

Tips & Warnings
  • If your budget allows, choose a Maclaren double stroller. Their Twin Triumph is suitable for newborns and up, has two separate fully reclining seats and a five-point harness. The Jeep - Wrangler All Weather Twin Sport Umbrella Stroller is an alternative option.
  • Always properly restrain your twins when in a stroller.
