How to Setup a Game Roomthumbnail
Turn a wasted room into a great game room.

Do you have an extra room that never gets used? Does your family love to watch sports and play games? Then you need to turn that wasted space into a game room. Just imagine having a place for the family to reconnect after a long week. Not to mention it would be a great place to enjoy by yourself. Best of all, with just a little bit of work, you’ll have almost everything you need in one space.

    Instructions

Measure the room. Taking time to measure the room ensures that you buy furniture and a TV that fit the space. Nothing is worse than selecting the perfect piece of furniture only to discover that it’s too large for the room. Also measure the windows.

      • 2

Select furniture that makes the most of the space. Your game room will probably be set up in one of the smallest rooms in your home. This means that you’ll need to purchase furniture that serves more than one function. For example, you could purchase a sofa that has built-in recliners. That way you can enjoy board games or relax and watch the big game.

      • 3

Set up a kitchenette. Just imagine being able to grab a quick snack without missing a moment of the big game. This doesn’t have to be extravagant either. You can get by with a small refrigerator and a toaster oven.

      • 4

Instead of choosing a pool table, why not choose a game table that converts to several different games? This gives your family a chance to enjoy a variety of different games, which means they won’t get tired of an expensive purchase.

      • 5

Purchase a TV that offers the best picture for your room’s size. It may be tempting to buy the biggest TV you can afford, but it’s not a wise decision. A TV that is too big will look blurry. When you go shopping, stand back from the TV as if you were on your sofa.

    Tips & Warnings

    • If you purchase a sofa with a fold-away bed, you can use your game room as a guest room.

    • Find a game table that offers a flat surface for playing board games.

    • Measure the entryway to make sure furniture will fit into the room.
