1
Pull your hair back. Throw it up in a ponytail, clip it back, do whatever you have to in order to get it off your face. Glasses are all about working with your face shape, and first you have to find out what that is.

Look in the mirror. Look at your forehead first. If your hairline is pretty flat and straight across, look down to your chin. If you have a strong jaw that creates a defined edge to your cheeks in addition to a flat hairline, you probably have a square face. If it's gently rounded, look to your cheeks. If they stretch wider than your hairline or jaw, look down to your chin. If your chin comes to a point, you're heart shaped. If you have a round jaw, you have a round face. A more steeply rounded hairline and a rounded chin indicates an oval shape.

Compliment your shape. If you have a very square shape, look for something rounded and fairly delicate, like wire rims or metal frames. Don't go too severely rounded--you'll look bug eyed. For a round face, the flatter and more square the frame, the more flattering it will be because it creates a division and actually shrinks the roundness. Heart shaped and oval shaped can go for pretty much anything, as long as it isn't overly large, because those faces tend to be naturally delicate and you shouldn't overpower your face.

4
Pick materials. Tortoise shell is expensive, but complimentary, especially for the warmth of brown and warm-tone eyes. Metal is good for a very sophisticated, professional look, and thick plastic is very edgy.

5
Check your prescription. Check with your doctor every 2 years to refresh your prescription, and more frequently if you notice a tendency to squint. Don't ruin your awesome new specs with a squint.

Tips & Warnings
Don't let the glasses wear you. They should never overpower your face, but rather complement it perfectly.
Be comfortable.
