Do not over-strain your computer and put a large draw on the power supply. The easiest way to overheat a computer is to have it run multiple graphically intensive applications that require a lot of power. Avoiding multitasking and intense applications will help your system run cooler.

Put your computer tower in a cool place. If your computer is in direct sunlight in a hot room, it is much more likely to overheat. Set up your computer in a cool room, such as in a basement, and never allow direct sunlight to shine on the case.

If you are attempting to run games with hardware close to the minimum specifications required for the game, upgrade so that you are well above the requirements.
