How to Wrap Large Gifts
You’ve found the perfect gift. The only downside is that it’s huge. How are you ever going to get it wrapped? You're envisioning ripped paper that was too small to begin with. It’s enough to make you want to slap a bow on the gift and call it a day. While it may be difficult to wrap a large gift, it’s not impossible. All you need is a little patience.

1
Select thick wrapping paper. It can be easy to tear paper while trying to wrap a large gift. The sheer size and weight of the package makes it tricky to use inexpensive paper. A large roll of high quality wrapping paper allows you to wrap your package neatly without any holes.

2
Choose a sturdy work surface. While it may be more comfortable to wrap gifts on the floor, you must wrap a large gift on a hard surface like a kitchen table. The weight and size of large gifts cause wrapping paper to tear at the corners if you're on a soft surface like carpeting.

Pull the wrapping paper around the gift to make sure it fits. Never assume you have enough paper on a roll. Then, and only then, can you cut the paper. This will save you from several headaches, not to mention saving paper.

4
Wrap each end of the package separately. Most wrapping paper only measures 30 inches wide, so you'll need two pieces to cover it. Place one piece of paper under the gift and pull it up around the package. Pull the paper tight and tape it to hold the paper in place while you fold the end of the paper around one end of the package. Repeat this process with the other piece of paper on the other end of the package.

5
Wrap a large ribbon around the package. There will be a noticeable seam in the center when you use two pieces of paper to wrap one gift, so position the ribbon to cover the seam.

Tips & Warnings
An alternative to thick paper is foil wrapping paper, which is also sturdy.
Stand up while wrapping to take some strain off your back.
Some packages are simply too heavy and large to wrap. For these situations, it’s best to purchase a cloth gift bag.
