Snowmen are fun to make in the winter, even if you don't use snow. Try creating your snowman out of soap instead. It will give you a more realistic snow look than other snowman crafts projects. Your family and friends will admire your snowman--and your handiwork.

  • 1/2 cup water
  • Water
  • Mixer

Instructions

    • 1

Combine the Ivory snow and water in a large mixing bowl. Blend with a mixer until the soap becomes moldable.

    • 2

Spread newspaper over your work surface to protect it from the soap and paint you'll be using.

    • 3

Form one large ball, one medium ball and one small ball out of the soap mixture.

    • 4

Insert half a toothpick into the top middle of your large snowball. Then slide the middle of the medium snowball on top of the toothpick that's sticking out of the large snowball.

    • 5

Insert a second toothpick halfway into the top of your medium-sized snowball and slide your small snowball on top. You now have your snowman's base.

    • 6

Paint your snowman white (the soap may look a little grayish). Set aside to dry.

    • 7

Cut out a long, skinny rectangle from your red felt and fray its edges with your scissors. Drape and tie it around the snowman's neck for a scarf.

    • 8

Slide a twig into each side of the medium snowball to form the snowman's arms.

    • 9

Cut out two red mittens from your felt and glue them on each of the two twig arms.

    • 10

Cut out a round circle from your felt that will fit on the top of the snowman's head. Glue it down to create your snowman's hat.

    • 11

Paint a face on your snowman using black paint for the eyes and mouth. Use orange paint to add a "carrot" nose.

    • 12

Paint three buttons down the center of the medium-sized snowball and set the whole thing aside until it's dry.

Tips & Warnings

  • Add red paint to give the snowman rosy cheeks.

  • Don't let small children handle toothpicks by themselves.

  • Don't put your snowman on top of the fireplace or anywhere that it can melt.
