Each year, the New Orleans Film Society hosts the New Orleans Film Festival. Since 1989, this festival has allowed new and established filmmakers to share their projects with a film-loving audience.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Kick off the festival in grand style by attending the New Orleans Film Festival Patron Party. This glamorous event includes fine New Orleans food, wine and live entertainment. Tickets are expensive, but they include admission to the patron party, admission to the opening night party, and an all-access festival laminated card that grants admission to all festival screenings and events.

  2. Step 2

Attend the festival on opening night. Canal Place Cinema hosts a red-carpet premiere to kick off the first films. This is followed by a festival opening night party.

  3. Step 3

Choose films to attend. A full schedule of films to be screened is generally available from the New Orleans Film Society in September. With films playing for seven days at multiple locations, checking the schedule before the festival begins will ensure that you have a chance to see everything on your list.

  4. Step 4

Attend some of the festival’s panel discussions and workshops. These informative sessions cover topics such as sreenwriting, licensing music for film and finding funding.

  5. Step 5

Find out which films win the honor of being the year’s best at the “Best of Fest” awards ceremony.

  6. Step 6

Close out the festival with a second red-carpet event at Canal Place Cinemas. After the screening, celebrate at the closing night party.
