Making the Trivets
-
1
Spread the newspaper on the crafting surface to protect it. Heat the glue gun, and add the glue stick. Cut the felt into 1-inch squares. Turn the ceramic tiles face down so that the rough side is facing up. Drop pieces of hot glue in each of the four corners of the tile, and press a piece of felt to each corner. This creates a soft scratch-free base.

2
Turn the tiles over, and get ready to paint. Trivet tiles can be painted in any design, with a stencil or without. Small children can press their hands into paint, and make their handprints on the trivet. Draw pictures of family members or flowers. Personalize each trivet any way you want to. This is a great time to let your creative side loose.
