Instructions

    • 1

    • 2

Combine equal parts of white glue with tepid water and mix thoroughly. Pour into a medium size flat-bottomed bowl. Cover the work area with waxed paper to protect the work surface. Newspapers are not recommend as they may stick to the work surface if they become saturated with glue.

    • 3

Create a drying area for the ribbon by suspending two dowels between the backs of chairs or use a clothes rack. Cover the floor beneath the drying area with waxed paper or a garbage bag to prevent drips of glue from sticking to the floor.

    • 4

Immerse the fabric into the glue and water mixture and saturate it completely. Grasp one end of the fabric and lift it from the mixture. Squeeze all excess glue from the fabric by pulling it through the other hand. Do not crumple or twist the fabric.

    • 5

Hang the wet fabric over the drying rack, letting the ends hang freely. Allow the ribbon to dry overnight.

    • 6

Remove the fabric from the drying rack and press it with a dry iron to remove any wrinkles. The fabric will be very stiff; do not try to bend or fold the fabric at this point. Trim the fabric to the desired width and length with pinking shears or with a rotary cutter. Use excess fabric to cut smaller ribbons for future use.
