The Cardiological Society of India was formed in January 1948, one year earlier than the American College of Cardiology. The Society belongs to other international cardiology organizations and includes overseas members in both the medical and scientific professions connected with heart disease or research. Joining is a matter of completing the application form and providing documentation of qualifications, including sponsorship.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Access the Society’s webpage (see Resources) and download a copy of the membership application.

  2. Step 2

Fill in the following information: Evidence of university degrees; appointments at medical or related institutions including percentage of work in cardiology; lists of training courses in cardiology; memberships in other societies; details of publications and other research work.

  3. Step 3

Obtain letters of sponsorship from two individuals. The membership form does not list a sponsor's qualifications, but presumably current members of the Society would be preferred. The sponsors must also sign the application form.

  4. Step 4

Purchase a Demand Draft or International Money Order payable as specified in the application in the amount of 3,000 rupees for ordinary membership or 7,000 rupees for life membership.

  5. Step 5

Mail four copies of the form and all materials, including the dues, to: Hon. General Secretary, Cardiological Society of India, Indian Heart House, P-60, C.I.T. Road, Scheme VII-M, Kankurgachi, Kolkata – 700 054, India.
